Downtown Miami Is Looking for Its Next Big Idea

There’s something special about Downtown Miami right now. It feels like the city is constantly reinventing itself, not only through new buildings and businesses, but through art, culture, music, family experiences, and the creative people who bring public spaces to life.

That’s why the Miami Downtown Development Authority’s Downtown Creative Collaborators Grant Program caught our attention.

For the 2026–2027 cycle, Miami DDA is offering up to $475,000 in funding to support creative events and initiatives taking place in Downtown Miami between October 2026 and September 2027. Grants range from $5,000 to $50,000, depending on the size and scope of the project.

The program is designed to support everything from smaller, hyperlocal experiences for fewer than 500 people to major cultural festivals and installations welcoming more than 1,000 guests. The idea is simple: give artists, organizations, innovators, and community builders the opportunity to create experiences that make Downtown Miami feel more connected, memorable, and alive.

Some of the most meaningful childhood memories happen outside the usual routine: an afternoon discovering an art installation, a music performance in a plaza, an unexpected activity in a park, or an event that helps children see their city in a completely new way.

Past grant recipients have included the Miami Children’s Museum, along with Open House Miami and LADD Foundation, with projects that created immersive experiences for people of different ages throughout Downtown.

Miami is at its best when creativity spills into the streets, and families feel invited to be part of it.

So, to the artists, dreamers, cultural organizations, and community creators in our city: maybe that idea you’ve been thinking about deserves a bigger stage.

Applications are open through August 24, 2026, at 11:59 p.m., with selected recipients expected to be announced in October.

The next unforgettable Miami experience might still be just an idea—and we can’t wait to see it come to life.
