At Miami Kids Magazine, we love spotlighting the schools and programs making a meaningful impact in our community. In a city as vibrant and culturally rich as Miami, arts education plays a powerful role in shaping confident, creative young leaders—and Miami Fine Arts Academy has become a standout destination for families seeking more than just extracurricular activities.
Known for its structured, high-level training and inspiring performance opportunities, MFAA offers an experience that goes far beyond traditional lessons. With world-class instruction, prestigious stages such as Carnegie Hall and the Adrienne Arsht Center, an award-winning summer camp recognized by Miami Kids Magazine readers, and a new Coral Gables campus opening in April 2026, the academy continues to raise the bar for arts education in South Florida.
We spoke with the leadership team to learn more about their mission, programs, and how they build confidence, creativity, and character in students across Miami.
What is the mission of Miami Fine Arts Academy, and what makes your programs unique?
Miami Fine Arts Academy’s mission is to help children grow into confident, creative individuals through world-class instruction, clear goals, and performance experiences that inspire growth. We provide a premium, structured arts education—where students don’t just “take lessons,” they build skills, character, and confidence that carry into school and life.
What sets us apart is our combination of elite teaching, strong accountability, and a culture of excellence with purpose. In a city as dynamic as Miami, our approach is both aspirational and practical: high standards, a strong community, and an uplifting environment where students and families feel proud of what they accomplish.
Which classes and disciplines are the most popular?
Music remains our most popular department, with piano as the top-enrolled program, followed by voice, guitar, and drums. Dance is also a major pillar, with strong demand for ballet-based classes. Our visual arts program continues to grow, now serving over 200 students across two locations.
We’re especially excited to see more students enrolling in multiple art disciplines, supporting broader creative development.
How do you help students build confidence and creativity?
Creativity grows when students feel safe to explore. We focus on creating an encouraging environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and trying new things. We emphasize that mistakes are part of the learning process.
Through guided improvisation and interpretation, students learn to express themselves while developing strong technique—building both confidence and creativity over time.
Do you offer special programs, performances, or travel opportunities?
Absolutely—this is one of the things that truly sets us apart. High-level performance opportunities are central to our program.
Our students regularly participate in professionally produced concerts, dance performances, and art exhibitions at major Miami venues such as the New World Center and the Arsht Center. These experiences give students meaningful goals, improving focus, discipline, and confidence.
For students ready for larger stages, we offer destination performances at venues like Carnegie Hall in New York and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. Performing in these spaces transforms the experience into a milestone students remember for life.
These opportunities are not only exciting but deeply educational. Students develop discipline, attention to detail, and stage confidence—often realizing, “I can do hard things, and I belong here.”
We’re also excited about upcoming international opportunities, including an invitation connected to the Royal Academy of Music in London—an inspiring reflection of what consistent training can lead to.
Tell us about your Summer Camp.
Our summer camp is designed to be both fun and truly valuable—it’s far from a typical “keep them busy” experience.
Students are placed in small groups to ensure personalized attention. They rotate through a structured schedule that includes music, visual arts, and movement-based activities, all led by professional faculty.
Every activity is intentional—students build skills, creativity, focus, and confidence while enjoying the process. Parents love seeing tangible results, whether through performances, showcases, or the work students bring home.
That’s why families have voted us “Best Arts Camp in Miami” since 2022. It reflects the quality, organization, and meaningful experience we strive to deliver each summer.
We hear you’re opening a new location—can you share details?
Yes, we’re excited to be expanding. Our third campus will open in Coral Gables, with a grand opening planned for April 2026 at 1500 Venera Avenue.
This location reflects everything we’ve learned over the past 17 years—what families value most and what truly supports student success. It will offer a beautiful, welcoming space with the elevated standards our community expects.
We’re also proud to feature Steinway & Sons pianos through our educational partnership, aligning with organizations that share our commitment to excellence. It reflects our philosophy: two companies, one standard—world-class instruction paired with world-class craftsmanship.
Families can expect the same signature experience: exceptional faculty, strong organization, and meaningful performance opportunities, all within a thoughtfully designed environment. We look forward to welcoming both new and current families to this exciting new chapter.
